The Doodle People were one of four grant receipients from Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and were tasked to create a game demo that highlighted an aspect of Singaporean culture. They set out to make a Where's Waldo style hidden objects and maze game. I did the music, sound design and implementation in Unity for this game.
The game's music featured a blend of instruments from different local cultures, such as the Bansuri (Indian bamboo flute), Yangqin (Chinese plucked strings), and Angklung (Indonesian bamboo percussion) among others. The score was designed to adapt to certain parameters such as score and player's location.
Designing the ambiences was also key - I used several ambience samples from Singapore and mapped them in a way that they would change seamlessly as the player zoomed into the 'hidden objects' level, quickly crossfading between far, near and spot ambience layers. This helped to manage the players focus in the specific area that they were looking at.
